Electrodynamics and the propagation of radio waves

Objective: mastering of fundamental concepts, theory and methodology of electrodynamics, familiarization of students with theoretical principles of radiation and the propagation of radio waves in free space and in guiding structures, construction theory and principles of operation of the basic types of transmission lines of ultrahigh frequencies.

Task: as a result of studying the discipline, the student must know the definitions and physical meaning of the quantities used to describe the electromagnetic field, the physical content and the basic equations and the laws of electrodynamics, the theory and methods of analysis of the electromagnetic field, the physical content and the methodology of mathematical analysis of radiation and the propagation of electromagnetic waves in free space and in guiding structures, especially the propagation of electromagnetic waves in various environments, especially the propagation of electromagnetic x waves on the boundary of different environments, the main types and principles of the construction of ultrahigh-frequency transmission lines are the main types of waves in the transmissions of ultrahigh frequencies, the main types and principles of construction of high-frequency resonators.

According to the requirements of the educational program, students must acquire competence: the ability to plan, organize and conduct theoretical and experimental studies in the field of ultra high frequency devices.

Programmatic learning outcomes: the ability to plan and implement in practice an original independent research that has scientific novelty, theoretical and practical value, and contributes to solving scientific and technical problems in the field of ultra high frequency devices.
