Fundamentals of the theory of information transmission

Aim: to form student knowledge on the theory of information transmission and methods of coding information messages.

As a result of studying the discipline the student must

know:

basic concepts and provisions of the theory of information transmission;

the basics of information theory and coding;

quantitative measures of information and their relation to the entropy of the source of the message;

basic principles and methods of encoding messages;

ways to efficiently compress messages;

be able:

estimate the amount of information in the message;

to make optimum and noise-free encoding of the data array;

analyze and design information transmission systems.
